Collection: Electric Salamanders

A salamander is an overhead grill used in commercial kitchens to brown, melt, glaze and finish dishes from above. Chefs use it for gratins, melting cheese, crisping toppings and bringing plated food back up to serving temperature quickly.

An electric salamander runs from a power circuit and needs no gas connection, which simplifies installation at a finishing station. A gas salamander needs a gas point and suits kitchens already piped for gas cooking on the same line.

Size a salamander by the width of its cooking plate and how many plates must be finished at the same time during peak service. A narrow bench unit suits a small a la carte kitchen, while wider models handle higher covers.

Yes. Because a salamander heats from above with an adjustable grid height, it will toast bread, buns and flatbreads as well as glaze and brown dishes. Some models in the Hospitality Connect range are listed as combined grillers and toasters.

The electric salamander range at Hospitality Connect includes models from Benchstar, Giorik and Waldorf, among other commercial cooking brands. All 20 lines are supplied Australia-wide with trade pricing for hospitality businesses.
