Chef Works Hats

Chef Works makes chef headwear as part of its uniform range. Hospitality Connect carries four Chef Works hat lines, including skater-style caps in black and white, for kitchen brigades in cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs and institutional kitchens.

A skater cap is a low-profile, close-fitting hat that sits flat on the head rather than standing upright. Kitchen staff choose it because it stays put during fast movement and fits comfortably under extraction hoods, headsets and other equipment.

Food handlers are expected to keep hair away from food, and a hat or cap is the usual way a commercial kitchen manages that. The specific requirement comes from the venue's food safety programme and local health rules, so check what applies to your kitchen.

White is the traditional kitchen colour and reads as classic chef presentation. Black is chosen where marks and heat exposure show, and in venues whose front-of-house uniform is dark. In practice the hat is matched to the rest of the uniform.

Order more than one hat per person, so a clean hat is available while another is in the wash. Venues laundering weekly need more per person than those laundering daily, and spares also cover new starters and casual shifts.
