Stolzle Weinland

Hospitality Connect carries 13 Stolzle Weinland lines: seven wine glasses, three tumblers, two whisky glasses and a champagne glass. The wine glasses cover white, red and Bordeaux shapes, and include a short stem option.

A Bordeaux glass is a large wine glass with a tall bowl, used for full-bodied red wine. The height gives the wine room to open up in the glass and directs the aroma towards the nose as the glass is tilted to drink.

A short stem wine glass sits lower and is more stable, so it suits function service, outdoor areas, tray work and venues where glasses are moved constantly. It also fits under lower shelving and into tighter glasswasher racks than a full stem.

A red wine glass has a larger bowl, so the wine has more surface area in contact with air and opens up in the glass. A white wine glass is smaller and narrower, which keeps the wine cooler for longer and concentrates lighter aromas near the rim.

Most restaurants keep two shapes, one for red and one for white, and add a Bordeaux or a sparkling glass where the list justifies it. Each extra shape needs its own storage, spares and staff handling, so more shapes is not automatically better.
