Avanti Spiretti Vegetable Slicers

The Avanti Spiretti range is a group of fruit and vegetable slicers listed at Hospitality Connect under kitchen utensils and gadgets. They cut vegetables into ribbons, spirals and slices for salads, garnishes and vegetable-based dishes.

A slicer repeats the same cut every time, so portions look identical and the yield per kilo is predictable. Knife work is faster for a one-off job, but a slicer wins when the same ribbon or spiral is needed across a full service.

Firm vegetables spiralise best, including zucchini, carrot, beetroot, sweet potato and daikon. Soft or watery produce tends to tear rather than hold a ribbon, and anything with a hollow centre or large seeds needs trimming before it goes through.

A vegetable slicer should be dismantled so the blade section and any cage can be washed and dried separately. Food traps behind blades, so rinsing the assembled unit is not enough, particularly between allergens or between raw and ready-to-eat produce.

Many slicers use interchangeable blade sections so one tool produces several cuts. Check which cuts a particular model makes before ordering, because the blade set decides whether you get thin spirals, thick ribbons or flat slices from the same body.
