Collection: Bormioli Rocco Premium

Hospitality Connect carries 19 Bormioli Rocco Premium lines: 13 wine glasses plus champagne glasses, cocktail glasses and tumblers. The wine shapes are named for the wines they suit, including Chianti, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and a cognac glass is included.

A red wine glass has a wider bowl, which gives the wine more surface area in contact with air so it opens up in the glass. A white wine glass is narrower, which keeps the wine cooler for longer and directs lighter aromatics towards the rim.

A tall, narrow champagne glass gives the bubbles a long column to rise through and limits the surface area where the sparkle escapes, so the wine holds its fizz through the pour. The shape also concentrates the aroma near the rim as the glass is lifted.

A cocktail glass is shaped for drinks served without ice, with a wide bowl on a stem so the hand does not warm the drink. Venues with a cocktail list generally carry them, while bars serving mostly built drinks over ice manage with tumblers and highballs.

A tumbler is a flat-based glass with no stem, so it is steadier on a tray and has no thin section to snap in the wash. A stemmed glass keeps the hand away from the bowl, which stops body heat warming wine and sparkling wine.
