A passthrough dishwasher, also known as a hood-type dishwasher, is a high-capacity commercial unit with a vertical lifting hood for easy access and fast operation. It's designed for washing large volumes efficiently.

It allows for continuous cleaning with a linear wash flow—dirty racks slide in from one side and clean racks exit from the other, reducing cross-contamination and staff fatigue.

They are best for medium to large kitchens with sufficient space for inlet/outlet benches. Smaller venues may prefer an underbench model
