Superware Dark Blue

Superware Dark Blue at Hospitality Connect covers eight melamine lines in a dark blue colourway, including round rimmed plates, soup bowls and cereal bowls. It is aimed at aged care, hospital, school and catering meal service.

Strong contrast between the plate and the food helps residents with low vision or dementia identify what is on the plate and how much is left. A dark plate makes pale food such as fish, potato and rice far easier to see than white does.

A rimmed plate has a flat border around a recessed centre. The rim gives staff a place to hold the plate without touching the food, and it gives a diner an edge to push food against when using one hand or adaptive cutlery.

Melamine is preferred where plates are handled by many people and moved on trays and trolleys, because it resists chipping and weighs less. China holds heat better and looks more formal, so it stays in dining rooms where breakage is less of a problem.

A soup bowl is deeper with steeper sides so liquid can be spooned without spilling. A cereal bowl is wider and shallower, giving a larger surface for cereal, milk and fruit, and it is easier to eat from with a shorter spoon action.
