Choose the material first. Glass measures are easy to read against the liquid and do not hold odours from strong ingredients, but they break. Plastic measures are lighter and survive a drop, which suits a busy prep bench. Size is the second decision, because a large jug is unreadable for a small quantity, so a mini measure earns its place alongside it for spirits, essences and small liquid additions.
