A gastronorm pan is a food pan built to a standard international size system, so it fits any gastronorm-compatible bench, bain marie, oven rack, trolley or fridge. Standard sizing lets one pan move through a kitchen without decanting food.

Polypropylene pans are clear and light, so staff can see the contents and lift them easily, which suits cold storage, prep and salad wells. Stainless steel pans handle direct heat and are used in ovens, bain maries and hot holding.

Hospitality Connect lists 57 FED products, covering gastronorm pans in polypropylene and stainless steel, trolleys and racks, food preparation accessories and cleaning chemicals for commercial kitchens.

Depth is chosen by how much product the pan has to hold and how it is served. A shallow pan keeps a small volume near the top so it stays presentable on a buffet, while a deep pan holds bulk and reduces refills during service.

Gastronorm is a dimensional standard, so a pan made to a given gastronorm size is intended to drop into any gastronorm-sized opening regardless of who made it. Check the depth as well as the size designation before ordering.
