Types and configurations
Stainless wall shelves and cupboards add storage above the bench without consuming floor space — critical for tight commercial kitchens where every linear metre is fought over. Hospitality Connect stocks FED, Brayco, and Borrelli ranges in 304-grade stainless, with shelf widths from 600 mm to 2400 mm. Choose between single-tier (the workhorse), double-tier (for higher walls), and cupboard formats (for sealed dry-good storage). Wall-mount shelving needs a structural fixing point; cupboard units typically wall-mount via integrated cleats.
Specifications
- Material: 304 stainless is the industry standard — corrosion resistant, dishwasher-friendly when removed for deep cleaning, and HACCP compliant.
- Shelf depth: 300 mm and 400 mm are the common options. 300 mm fits most utensil and dry-good storage; 400 mm clears pots and tray storage.
- Width range: 600, 900, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100, and 2400 mm to match standard bench lengths.
- Tier configurations: single, double, and triple wall-mount; cupboard formats with sliding doors for dust protection in dry-good storage.
- Fixing: supplied with wall brackets sized for masonry or stud fixing — confirm wall structure before commit.
Installation considerations
Wall structure is the deal-breaker on stainless shelving — a 1500 mm double-tier loaded with stockpots can carry 80–100 kg, well beyond what plasterboard alone supports. Either fix into masonry, into stud framing with reinforcement plate, or onto purpose-built backing. Mounting height matters: shelves above prep benches typically sit 450–550 mm above the bench top so the front edge clears tall stockpots and bain-marie inserts. For wall cupboards, ensure the door swing or slide doesn't conflict with adjacent shelves or wall-mount equipment like extraction hoods.
Working with our team
Hospitality Connect's catalogue depth in this category reflects 21+ years of supplying Australian commercial venues — single-supplier convenience across appliances, smallware, and consumables means fewer purchase orders, consolidated freight, and consistent specification advice from a team that's seen most operational scenarios before.
Specification matters more than buyers expect — undersized or oversized purchases waste both capital and operating cost. Our trade team spec'd thousands of fitouts across cafés, restaurants, hotels, function venues, and contract kitchens, and we'll match recommendations to your venue brief rather than push the catalogue.
Trade-pricing scales by volume and consolidates with other warehouse picks — refit a full section without minimum-order surprises. Stock turns fast through our Melbourne warehouse on the most-used lines, and items not currently on the shelf typically arrive within 1–2 weeks via direct manufacturer relationships.
Pair with
Combine with work benches with splashback, leg braces and under-shelves, food preparation equipment, and commercial fridges for a full stainless prep line. For warewashing zones, pair with dishwasher racks stored on dedicated under-bench shelves.
